Many shelters opening for those in need of safety | News

As recovery efforts are underway across the state, several storm emergency shelters are now open for people in need of a safe place to stay.
The Belk Center at Bower Park in Tuscaloosa is open as a shelter for victims. Currently it is the only one open in the city at this time. Displaced students from the University of Alabama can go to the Student Recreational Center for shelter (not Coleman Coliseum.)
Gethsemane Baptist Church on Highway 160 in Hayden is opening their basement for those needing shelter.
The City of Westover Storm Shelter is OPEN. It is located at the City Hall at 3312 Westover Road, Westover, AL 35147 (on Old Highway 280 just East of Highway 55).
Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham has opened for anyone in need of shelter.
In St. Clair County, citizens can gather at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Cropwell and Springville First United Methodist Church. These two sites have been set up as Red Cross shelters.
Dora: First Baptist Church and Dora Civic Center are both open as shelters.
St. Clair County: Ashville Middle School is set up as an American Red Cross designated shelter for all displaced citizens in St. Clair County. It's located at 33221 Highway 231, Ashville.
Hueytown: Brooklane Baptist Academy at 160 Brooklane Drive. A shelter with food is open. Contact Rachel at 205-903-8418.
Cullman: shelter is set up at the Cullman Civic Center at 510 5th St SW, Cullman. Phone Number 256-734-9157
Russellville in Franklin County: the Rec center is set up as a shelter. Contact number: 256-332-8770

Bowers Park Drive in Tuscaloosa.
