BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- We are proud to announce we have released an updated version of our popular iOS app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Version 1.6 of the WBRC News iOS app was approved by Apple this morning. New features in the app include:

- Optimized weather tab with faster processing and additional layers for a more robust interactive radar experience
- New home tab display for time sensitive breaking news including weather alerts, and other live, late breaking local happenings
- Speed improvements
- Additional performance enhancements

The new interactive weather app now features several layer options:

-    Radar (precipitation)
-    Satellite (cloud cover)
-    Topical Satellite
-    Temperature
-    Wind Speed

The WBRC News app is a FREE app featuring local news from FOX6 News. The app offers dozens of stories and videos, an interactive radar, and the ability to share and save stories for offline reading in the "My View" section.

In addition, the WBRC News app allows you to submit pictures and video directly to FOX6 News in the "My Report" section.
