Red Cross encourages disaster preparedness | News
BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- If another severe storm or tornado hit, would you be prepared? This month the Red Cross hopes to help citizens be "Red Cross Ready."
Tonight, national and regional officials are in town to help kick off the month-long campaign. They stressed three steps to being ready:
1. Prepare an evacuation kit with storm supplies that is easy to carry.
2. Figure out where in yoru home and community you should in case of a disaster.
3. Be informed about what disasters may occur in your area, such as flooding, tornadoes or hurricanes.
But the agencies admit it can be difficult to get families to plan ahead. To learn more about how your family can be "Red Cross Ready," please visit alredcross.org.
